UsageStrongcoat Epoxy OT is designed to improve adhesion of surface coatings and screeds to substrates which are contaminated with oils. Note that whilst Strongcoat Epoxy OT is oil tolerant, it will not adhere to grossly contaminated substrates. Substrates should be thoroughly cleaned with industrial detergent before applying Strongcoat Epoxy OT. Materials Supplied5 kg and 10 kg units. CoverageOn grit blasted and textured surfaces, approximately 3.5 m²/kg for the first coat and up to 5 m²/kg for the second coat. Coverage figures will vary according to the texture, porosity and evenness of the surface on which the Strongcoat Epoxy OT is being applied. StorageProtect from frost and store under dry warehouse conditions at a temperature between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf Life12 months if stored in unopened packaging and stored under proper conditions. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSSURFACE PREPARATIONConcrete substrates should be mechanically prepared to remove any dust, laitance, grease, oil or any other contaminants that could adversely affect adhesion. Suitable mechanical preparation such as scrabbling, planning or vacuum grit blasting are recommended to provide a key. A suitable degreaser and cleaning agent should be applied to any residual oil contamination. MIXINGTaking care to ensure that the bottom and sides are thoroughly scraped, transfer the entire contents of the Strongcoat Epoxy OT Hardener container into the Resin container and, using a Jiffytype mixer attached to a slow-running electric drill, mix for approximately two minutes. Never mix Strongcoat Epoxy OT by hand as this could lead to areas of uncured material. APPLICATIONOnce mixing is complete, transfer the Strongcoat Epoxy OT to a roller tray and, using a medium-pile simulated sheepskin roller, apply it evenly over the surface. The second coat or further toppings must be applied within 48 hours. If used as a primer for cementitious floor coatings the second coat should receive a full blind of DCP coarse aggregate at a rate of approximately 3 kg/m². Any excess aggregate should be removed once the primer has cured. WORKING TIMEStrongcoat Epoxy OT has a working time of approximately 20 minutes at 20°C. Never leave the mixed Strongcoat Epoxy OT kit to stand for any length of time prior to application as this will considerably shorten its working time. PRECAUTIONSDo not place when the substrate temperature is below 10°C or when the ambient temperature is 10°C and falling. Do not place where the atmospheric relative humidity is above 90%. Substrates should be kept 3°C above the dew point for at least 48 hours after application. HEALTH & SAFETYRefer to the product Material Safety Data Sheets before using Stroncoat Epoxy OT. |
