Strongcoat SL is applied by trowel to horizontal surfaces and has very good durability towards pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It also has very good resistance to many of the chemicals commonly found in an industrial environment (consult our Technical Department for further details). It can be supplied in a variety of colours (consult our Sales Department for details).
Slip resistant finishes can be produced for very demanding situations.
Approximately 3.5m² per kit at 3mm thick.
Store at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
Approximately 24 months if stored in unopened containers and under good conditions.
The surface must be clean, dry (less than 75% RH measured by hygrometer) and free from dust, laitance, oils, paints or other forms of contamination. Grit blasting can be used to remove laitance and surface contamination (see the Guide to Surface Preparation for further details).
For treatment of surfaces containing expansion joints consult our Technical Department.
Surfaces must be primed with Strongcoat Primer prior to application of Strongcoat SL (see the Strongcoat Primer Data Sheet for further details).
More than one coat of Strongcoat Primer may be required for highly porous or textured surfaces.
Taking care to ensure that the bottom and sides are thoroughly scraped, transfer the entire contents of both the Resin and Hardener into a separate mixing container. Using a jiffy-type mixer attached to a slowrunning electric drill, mix for approximately two minutes.
Once the Strongcoat SL Hardener and Resin have been mixed, transfer the entire contents of the Resin container into a Casco or Creteangle-type mixer, taking care to ensure that the bottom and sides are thoroughly scraped.
Start the mixer and transfer to it the entire contents of the Strongcoat SL Filler container, taking care to ensure that these are completely dry and lump-free. Continue mixing for approximately two minutes.
Never mix Strongcoat SL by hand as this could lead to areas of uncured material.
Once mixing is complete, transfer the Strongcoat SL to the primed surface and, using a straight-edged steel trowel, apply it evenly.
Approximately 15 minutes at 20°C.
Never leave the mixed Strongcoat SL kit to stand for any length of time prior to application as this will considerably shorten its working time.
Whilst still wet, thoroughly spike roll the Strongcoat SL.
Once mixing, application and finishing are complete, tools can be cleaned with a suitable solvent.
At 20°C Strongcoat SL should be allowed to cure for 48 hours prior to opening it to pedestrian traffic. At the same temperature, it should be allowed to cure for seven days prior to opening it to vehicular traffic or exposing it to chemical contamination (consult Technical for details of curing times at other temperatures).
SLIP RESISTANT FINISHES
Once the Strongcoat SL has cured, apply a coat of Strongcoat HB. While the Strongcoat HB is still wet, completely blind it with an appropriate grade of Aggregate (consult our Technical Department for details of Aggregate grades). Allow the coat of Strongcoat HB to cure then vacuum off the excess Aggregate.
Seal the bound Aggregate with a further coat of Strongcoat HB.
Strongcoat SL should not be applied at temperatures less than 10°C.
